We experienced a very interesting chat on 31st January. It wasn't like always, because it was completely in English! Julio and Dorothy came to Rychnov to present to us their life in Canada.
At the beginning everyone was a little bit shy to ask, but as long, as they spoke to us, we cooperated more and more. They told us about Canadian nature, cities, but also about their own lives. For example, we discovered, that when it snows in Canada, it isn't like here. It can snow for weeks and there is normal to close schools because of it! (All of us want this snow here now.)
For Dorothy and Julio kind of weird one discovery. In Czech, it is almost normal to move a lot, but not in Canada! They lived in one place for almost 50 years. But their family layout is so different from the Czech one. Most times we live only in the Czech Republic and even the longest travels don't take more than half a day. But when they want to visit for example their daughters, it can take from hour to more than 5-day travel. They say, that it is our advantage. But I think they have also in it something special.
And last but not less interesting for us was discussion about their city, Montreal. This city is 50% bigger than Prague and we can see it just from a picture. Local roads are so much bigger than ours, but over it, traffic there is sometimes really horrible. It happens, because a lot of people from other towns and villages have their work here and they have to travel every day. But really big advantage of this big and beautiful city is the "underground city," which makes Montreal even bigger!
At the end we have to give huge Thanks to Dorothy and Julio, who travelled the long way and spent the time with us!
