Erasmus+ - Finland: Week 3

Most memorable day for both of us was probably Friday on which we decided to organise a Czech evening at Iida’s place. This Czech evening was basicaly the two of us slaving in the kitchen trying to bake "štrůdl" for dessert and prepare "bramboráky" with "Katův šleh" as a main course. But it had a catch because neither of us made any of those dishes alone before. Luckily, we managed to wake up the chefs in us and cook the most delicious dish they have probably ever seen. In the end the whole experience of cooking Czech dishes for the Finns was pretty wholesome, in our opinion, since it reminded both us of our childhood experience with baking and cooking.

Saturday was mostly special for me (Vojta) because it was my first time going to Helsinki. We visited the same paradox museum like Terka did but for me it wasn’t as interesting as I thought it would be. After that though, we moved to an outdoors market in the harbour of Helsinki and tried some traditional Finnish foods like salmon soup or very small fried fishes that were also delicious. Afterwards, we moved to a nearby city where we visited a building which I would best describe as Iglandia and that was a bit of disappointing as well because it was clearly made for smaller kids.

On Sunday we both decided to go on a trip with a friend of Iida’s named Siiri who actually just got her exchange student from Austria called Marie. It was a walk on the outskirts of Turku in the beautiful countryside that Finland offers but we saw both sides of the coin. The pathway was completely sunken in one part and we tried to go around it but Iidas sister fell knees deep into the dirty and cold water which was underneath the grass. Luckily, nothing serious happened to her even though it meant an earlier return from the trip.
