Erasmus+ - Finland: Week 2

On Friday we decided to solve the 1000-piece puzzle that was in the library. We did not finish it fully, but we solved most of it. In the evening Iida’s family prepared chocolate evening for me and we tasted some of the Finnish chocolates. I must confess that I really love Finnish chocolate and I will miss it.

On Saturday Iida, Siiri and I went to Turku train station to go to Helsinki. It was a 2-hour long ride. We rested for a bit and then went sightseeing where we accidentally came to some Red Bull event that was taking place there with some of the best snowboarders in the world. After that it was time to visit the Paradox Museum. It was a lot bigger than our museum of illusions in Prague and in my opinion, it was a lot more fun. Then we had some time before the light show at Kallio church, so we went back to our hotel to check in and to rest a bit. At 7:30 p.m. we arrived at the church, right on time. The light show was interesting, and I did not even notice that a half an hour went by. After that we went back to our hotel and went to sleep. On Sunday morning we had a delicious breakfast at the hotel, and they gave each of us a rose because it was National Women’s Day. Then we had time to go shopping and then we headed back to Turku.

On the other hand, my week was not as filled with culture and sightseeing as it was filled with various sport activities. On Thursday we headed to a gym with an American exchange student who made sure we would not be able to lift anything for the next three days. On Friday we played billiard in a local student club for quite some time with our other friends, who are exchange students from Japan and Germany. And after that on Saturday, right after noon, we went bouldering with all these people, destroying our hands in the process of trying to climb as high as possible. In my opinion, time spent with these people is one of the most valuable because they are the only ones who are in a similar situation and are experiencing similar hardships.
