Mgr. Hanzalová měla možnost navštívit hodiny IVT, hudební výchovy a matematiky. A jak vnímá svůj první týden Jakub?
The first week in Latvia flew by like water. Upon our arrival in Riga, we were met by Rihards, the student with whom I will be living for the next 5 weeks, and Ms. Gunta, a teacher and coordinator at the school responsible for me. After a short lunch (Kebab), we drove to our destination, Aluksne. A small-ish town built around a lake bearing the same name and only around thirty kilometers from the borders with both Russia and Estonia. The rest of Day #1 was spent meeting the host family and unpacking my bag.
The majority of Day #2 (Saturday) was spent helping the aforementioned family to clear the garden after winter, and a walk around the town in the evening
Sunday, Day #3 was much quieter, with the family taking me to Go-carts. The remainder of that day was spent relaxing and preparing for the first day in the new school.
On Monday, I attended two history classes, a B2 English class, and two C1 English classes. I have decided to choose the latter of the two for the remainder of my time in Latvia. I also had a weekly meeting with Gunta in the afternoon.
On Tuesday, Day #5, I had my first Spanish and Biology classes, which were entertaining, as well as more English classes. The rest of the day was quite uneventful, with me simply going for a walk in the evening.
Wednesday was quite similar to Tuesday. I attended a weekly class hour and had my first geography class, during which the class had a chance to ask me anything they wanted. It went better than I expected. I was also finally able to study for my homeschool, after a classmate from Czechia sent me notes after some problems earlier, with cooperation from my class.
While Thursday was free for my classmates back home, Latvians still had school, although shortened with the classes being only 30 minutes long instead of 40. In the evening, I went to the local gym. It was slightly less equipped than the one back in Rychnov, but it was still quite lovely.
The Easter Holidays started on Friday. We went for a walk around the town and to a restaurant by the lake. The next day, I went on a short hike to a watchtower above Aluksne. The last day of this week was spent mainly resting and studying.
