Vincent van Gogh

Vincent van Gogh was one of the most famous artist in the Netherlands. Vincent van Gogh was born in Groot Zundert, on the 30th of March 1853. Vincent van Gogh was the son of Theodorus van Gogh (1822-1885) and Anna Cornelia Carbentus (1819-1907). Van Gogh went to the primary school for two years in Zevenbergen, and after that he went for two years to the Koning Willem II in Tilburg. When he was 15 (in 1868) he left school. In 1869 Vincent van Gogh become a worker by Goupil & Cie. That was an art seller in Den Haag. Vincent’s uncles Cornelis and Vincent (he called them Cor and Cent)were art sellers too, so that’s why his family have had contact with the world of art. His younger brother Theo workedlater as an art seller., and it was an important thing for the future of Vincent van Gogh. Vincent was really succefull by Goupil & Cie, and he worked there for 7 years. In 1873 he moved to England, and he was impressed of the culture. After a few years, in 1875, Vincent went to Paris because he had to much trouble where he worked. In Paris Vincent was thinking that he didn’t want the job art seller anymore, so he went back to England in 1876 where he have had awonderful time before. In april Vincent was teaching on the school William P. Stokes in Ramsgate. After a while he went to the school T. Slade Jones , in Isleworth. On Christmas Vincent went back to his family in The Netherlands. When he was there , he decided to stay in The Netherlands. He worked in 1877 in a bookstore in Dordrecht, but at the 9th of april he went back to school again. In January 1879 he was working in a church and he helped people with their problems. He did that in a village called Wasmes. Vincent was visiting an art man called Jules Breton, in France. He walked the whole way to Courrieres to meet Breton. Finally when he was there, he didn’t had the courage to call Julesand Vincent went back to Cuesmes. After a year living in Borinage, he went to Brussel in 1880 to spend his whole life to make art. Vincent have had a cousin who send him the things to make art in colours. This cousins name was Wauve and he was an art maker too. Vincent was inspired of Wauve’s art. In the year of 1882 Vincent had meet a woman with thename: Clasina Maria Hoornik (1850-1904). Vincent have had a relationship with her for 2 years, and then they broke up. On the 8th of May 1889 Vincent was depressed, and he was going to an institute for that. On the 23th of December 1889, Vincent was cut his ear from his head with a knife. Vincent van Gogh finally died on the 29th of July 1890 on 01.30 hour.
